Kaylea Cross is my best find of the 2013 summer. No Turning Back has an incredible plot with outstanding attention to detail. Finally a military romance that combines great writing, interesting characters, a fabulous story line and suspense. It is the third book of this series featuring Samarra Wallace and Ben Sinclair. Sam is the best written female character in a military romance I have ever read. She is a smart CIA agent put into battle situations beyond her training. Her ability to make on the spot decisions in extreme situations affects everyone on her team. It is so exciting to see such a strong female lead character.
Ben Sinclair is a military hero with plenty of baggage, especially after what happened in Book 2. Of the five book series, he is probably my least favorite hero in his own feature story. To his credit (maybe Kaylea Cross`s credit), he becomes much more likeable in books 4 and 5.
I HIGHLY recommend that you read the series in order to enhance the character development and story-line.

No Turning Back Kaylea Cross 9781601547194 Books Reviews
The competence, respectability, dedication, and expertise of the CIA team is amazing. The endurance and bravery, when they keep going on against all the obstacles, blows your mind. The story is divulged through all the key players, the readers get a vivid picture of what is going on in the action packed, grisly story.
Hearts are at the play, when you don't know who you can trust, when family members and loved ones are some of the key players. Can you forgive for ultimate betrayal, when the one who let you down, is the one you love?
The story left me gasping, and looking forward to more.
The book is part of the series, and even though the love story is played to the end, the suspense will continue in following books.
Samarra Wallace has been rescued by the special forces team and returned home. Then she finds out that her cousin, Neveah has been captured and she agrees to go back to Afghanistan. She contacts Ben Sinclair, former army ranger for help. Ben isn't sure he trusts Sam as there was some evidence that she might be helping the terrorist but he agrees to help her.
While I think some books can be read as stand alone books, this series needs to be read in order so that you can understand the characters. Each book builds on the first book of the series. Again there is a lot of action, romance, and misunderstandings. This was not my favorite book of the series, but it was still good. I have now read three series of Kaylea Cross and really am enjoying her books.
Ben is probably one of my favorite characters in all of the series simply because he is so sweetly flawed and in some ways, a bit of a wreck. Samarra is a survivor, a neat freak to the 10th degree (lots of fun poked at her about that). Together their characters come together in probably the most brutal story of the series.
Samarra is a CIA communications geek that is being set up to look like either a traitor, a spy or someone being coerced into being a weak link. Add in her beloved 'close as a sister' cousin being in the hands of the enemy and you have setting for intrigue, suspense and emotions all over the place. Ben is a former Ranger with trust issues, a hot temper at times and a fierce loyalty to those he loves. It's not an easy ride for the reader or the couple as you're whipsawed from one extreme possibility to another. Somehow in the middle of all this the romance blossoms and yes, the sex is pretty warm to smoldering )
Cross has done her research, again, from terrain, to culture, to dress are all pitch perfect. The mechanics of the military operations had me re-reading sections while muttering "I didn't know they could do that!" I was both amazed and proud. Again, her bad guys have reasons for being bad, but they're still monsters. Her good guys aren't perfect, but they are still motivated by core values and yes, that blasted moral compass I keep mentioning.
Third in the series--- more plot points and characters introduced, more issues brought to light and a another 5 star book in the series.
Just another good read from Cross.
Samarra, Sam, Wallace is a communications specialist for the CIA. She's a graduate of MIT with a degree in electrical engineering among others.
Right now Sam is getting some of her things together at her apartment. She's been getting message from someone. She has no idea who. These messages are threatening her with the death of her cousin. A cousin who was taken prisoner along with other Doctors Without Borders in Afghanistan. Sam is scared to death and doesn't know who to trust and the messages are telling her to contact no one.
Sam would love to call Ben Sinclair a guy she works with. A guy she has feelings for but she doesn't dare to call either Ben or her boss Luke. Too many warnings from whoever is texting her.
Sam leaves dressed like an Afghani woman with only her backpack.
Luke Huchinson and Ben Sinclair, an ex Army Ranger, who works for Luke have no idea whats going through Sam's head. All the leads are telling them Sam's a traitor working for Tehrazzi.
So begins one very fine read.
This one has Sam, Ben his ex-Delta Force brother Rhys, Luke, the CIA, Tehrazzi, death, a battle on a mountaintop, a very badly wounded and almost dead Rhys, a rescue, clues, loads of misdirection, a seriously injured Luke who stubbornly refuses medical care, a battle between Tehrazzi and his monster bodyguard Assoud and Sam and Ben getting it so damned right.
Just a great read. Five Stars.
